Maxim Mamsikov

Born in 1968 in Kyiv. He graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute. Mamsikov’s paintings portray everyday things but show them from unusual perspectives not seen by the human eye: a bird’s-eye view, for example, or an object in the process of falling or flying up.

After a large-scale show of the artist’s works at the «Art Moscow» exhibition within the framework of the Moscow Biennale, and after his successful participation in the London auctions of Phillips, Mamsikov unexpectedly turned back to pocket-size paintings, which had made him famous in the 1990s as one of the leaders of the New Wave.
