Vinny Reunov


Born in 1963 in Kyiv, Vinny Reunov is a graduate of the Taras Shevchenko Republican Secondary Art School and the Kyiv State Art Institute. Together with Oleg Tistol, he established an art group named Volitional Edge of National Post-Eclecticism. In 1988 he, Oleg Tistol, Marina Skugareva, and Yana Bystrova left for Moscow, where in 1990 they worked together in the Furmannyi Lane squat. In 1991 and 1992 he was the director and curator (jointly with Avdey Ter-Oganesyan) of the Moscow Gallery on Triokhprudnyi Lane.

His recent art interests include a Dust Jacket project; within it, Reunov elevates the aesthetics of mass-circulation media to the level of canon, seen as a cultural phenomenon and an object worthy of personal attention when тне cover of a periodical attains the characteristics and status of an elitist artistic creation.
