The photos from Apocalypse of Art project showcased at the 14th International Architectural Biennale in Venice portray major contemporary art museums from all over the world, which are also architectural landmarks – Tate Modern in London, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Solomon Guggenheim Museum in New York. In the opinion of authors, a contemporary art museum models relationships inside reality, establishes and reflects the hierarchy of values and thereby influences art perception among the audience.

The Vasilyev couple presents these buildings in apocalyptic surroundings as a symbol of contemporary art institution decline; they believe it is now transforming into a global art supermarket. The project develops the theme of contemporary art and processes taking place in the 20th and early 21st century as well as happening now in aesthetic mind and artistic culture.

The artists transpose architecture onto the plane of the photographic image, transforming an object into a symbol. Apocalypse of Art is an installation dedicated to the place of art in time, space, and existence.
