Exhibition of Pavlo Makov’s Works Is on the View In Florence

08 November 2016

On the 3d of November in Fondazione Il Bisonte gallery in Florence opened Pavlo Makov's exhibition TERNI LAPILLI. Giochi di Guerra (Tic-Tac-Toe. War Games), where graphic artist presented etchings from his new series. Part of the works was already on the view in Kyiv – in May at the exhibition State of Things in Ducat gallery fans of Makov had an opportunity to see the first few pieces of the massive project.

Pavlo Makov is a significant figure in Ukrainian contemporary art, one of the best graphic artists, whose works are well known all over the world. Each of Makov's series is a new world, with nuanced half-mythical landscapes, characters, and buildings. That is how were created “Gardens”, massive “Utopia”, “Book of the Days”. The new project unites landscape and text, its characters are architectural buildings, that have the form of letters. In the etchings they become one holistic ground map.

Makov lives and works in Kharkiv, near the Ukrainian-Russian border. That is why his new project is connected with current Ukrainian situation. His maps refer to ruined by war landscapes.

The exhibition is on the view till the 23d of November.
