“Ukrainian contemporary art. From private collections” presentation was held at the Modern Art Research Institute of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, July 10th. The event was organized by Zenko Foundation with an assistance of Igor Abramovych and Marat Guelman to give a short overview and to show Ukrainian contemporary art to the visiting Kyiv representatives of Centre Georges Pompidou. Ukrainian collectors, artists and critics were invited to participate in the event along with Nicola Lucci-Gutnikovand Natalia Milovzorova.

A great exhibition that included works of the leading Ukrainian artists became possible to gather with a help of the owners of private collections. The following collectors participated in the event: Zenko Aftanaziv, Igor Abramovych, Igor Voronov, Stella Beniaminova, Mikhail Tsarev, Tatyana and Boris Grinevy, Konstantin Kozhemyaka and others. As a result, Nicola Lucci-Gutnikov and Natalia Milovzorova could see unique artworks, which are rare to exhibit in public art space and represent the demonstrative section of Ukrainian art from the sixties until now.

The art program organized for Centre Pompidou representatives also included a curatorial excursion to National Art Museum of Ukraine, Mystetskyi Arsenal and meeting artists in studios.

Zenko Foundation expresses gratitude to the curators of Centre Pompidou for their interest to Ukrainian contemporary art movement. The foundation believes that this visit would make a start for the productive cooperation with one of the most respected art institution in the world.

One of the Zenko Foundation’s prior goals is to raise interest in Ukrainian art and culture in Ukraine and abroad. For that purpose the foundation actively establishes cooperation with the world-famous art centers. Earlier this summer the director of Saatchi Gallery Nigel Hurst visited Ukraine on the invitation of Zenko Foundation.
