ART HISTORY: REFLECTIONS AND LIFE BY OLEKSIY ROGOTCHENKO PUBLISHED WITH THE SUPPORT OF ZENKO FOUNDATION

23 March 2018

Institute of Contemporary Art Issues with the support of Zenko Foundation published a monography Art History; Reflections and Life by Oleksiy Rogotchenko, Ph.D. in Art History. The author has written hundreds of research works, articles and essays dedicated to social and cultural processes in the 20th century Ukraine. In particular, the author pays particular attention to the totalitarian regime period; he has a separate monography dedicated to that under the title Social Realism and Totalitarianism which was published ten years ago, in 2007. The new book also delves deep into this topic. “Oleksiy Rogotchenko has been a long-standing researcher of totalitarian era art, has worked for many years with the archives all over the country, has been writing about artists whose names were crossed out from the history of Ukrainian art,” says Zenko Aftanaziv, institutor of Zenko Foundation. “In this book, the researcher looks at the social and cultural component of art processes taking place in the 20th century and tells about contemporary art in the context of its historical establishment. The book contains numerous facts unknown until now but critical for the understanding of Ukrainian contemporary art.”
