Zenko Foundation as Art Partner of International Cultural Events

16 May 2018

On May 19, Ukrainian National Taras Shevchenko Opera House will host Gala Europa, an international art project dedicated to Europe Day in Ukraine. The concert will take place to celebrate the appointment of Italy as the chair state in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and Bulgaria’s chairmanship in the Council of the European Union. For three years, Zenko Foundation has partnered the Italian Culture Institute in Kyiv supporting this musical event. Last year, the foundation was an art partner of Tosca premiere and Gala Europa project dedicated to Europe Day in Ukraine and the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations established between Ukraine and Italy.

This year, Gala Europa will feature opera singers from Ukraine, Italy, and Bulgaria. They include: Gabriela Georgieva (soprano, Bulgaria), Oleksandr Melnychuk (baritone, Ukraine), Sergiy Magera (bass, Ukraine), Sofia Soloviy (soprano, Ukraine-Italy), Veselin Mikhaylov (baritone, Bulgaria), Gaetano Di Bacco (saxophone, Italy), and Marco Misciagna (viola, Italy). Works by Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi, Lysenko, Puccini, and other composers will be performed.

Zenko Foundation pays particular attention to the development of cultural diplomacy, establishing ties with art institutions in other countries (Ludwig Museum in Budapest, Saatchi Gallery, Centre Pompidou) and actively supports international projects taking place in Ukraine. A special collaboration direction for the fund is musical events. For example, Gala Europe in spring has become a tradition. In summer, Zenko Foundation will partner LvivMozArt for the second time; this is an international music festival taking place in Lviv.
