On May 20, the Ukrainian National Opera hosted a Gala Europe Concert dedicated to the Day of Europe in Ukraine and the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations established between Ukraine and Italy. A special partner of this joint Ukrainian-Italian project was Zenko Foundation. This is not the first instance of the fund’s cooperation with the Embassy of Italy in Ukraine – in March, Zenko Foundation became a partner of Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca premiere, which was also held in the Ukrainian National Opera.

Gala Europe Concert

At Gala Europe, well-known Italian musicians and soloist participated, in particular Francesca Dego (violin), Gaetano Di Bacco (saxophone), and Diego Cavazzin (tenor). On the same stage with the Italians, Ukrainian opera singers also performed, namely Ksenia Bakhritdinova (soprano), Sergey Kovnir (bass), Oksana Kramareva (soprano), and Anzhelina Shvachka (mezzo soprano). The program featured works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Gioachino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Claude Debussy, George Gerschwin, and other classical composers. Besides, several works by contemporary composers, Carol Ann Weaver and Roberto Molinelli, were performed for the first time.
