The 23rd of October marked the conclusion of the first international Zenko Platform forum. The two-day event, that gathered the representatives of Ukrainian and international art society, was held at the Zenko Foundation art space, situated on the premises of the “Koruna” hotel complex (Tatariv village, Ivano-Frankivsk region). The forum was initiated by Zenko Foundation. The authors of the idea and moderators of discussions during the event were Alisa Lozhkina, deputy director of “Mystetsky Arsenal” museum complex, and art historian and curator Konstantin Akinsha. The project was promoted in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, a number of foreign embassies, cultural centers of the EU countries and major Ukrainian cultural institutions.
The participants of the forum included prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schuster, Professor of Brandenburg Technical University (BTU), initiator and founder of international study course “World Heritage Studies”, Dr. Britta Kaiser-Schuster, Director for XX and XXI centuries Fine Arts, project development and managing director of Cultural Foundation of the German States, art historian, curator, writer Ewa Sułek, Dr. Julia Fabényi, Director of Budapest Ludwig Museum, Italian culturologist Franko Balloni, and others.
The Ukrainian party was represented by the deputy minister of the culture of Ukraine Rostyslav Karandieiev, the 1st secretary of political department of MFA of Ukraine (Cultural Diplomacy Team) Ruslana Linnik, president of the ArtHuss cultural initiatives foundation Konstantin Kozhemyaka, founder of Cultprostir online platform, publisher and collector Yuriy Komelkov, founder of GaliciaCult forum Olga Sagaidak, head of the Lviv Palace of Arts Yuriy Hnatkivsky, collector and founder of Stedley Art Foundation Stella Beniaminova, and others. The forum was also visited by the head of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional public administration Oleh Honcharuk.
“While starting Zenko Platform, we had two main goals. The first was to provide a possibility for the members of the Ukrainian art scene to communicate, exchange opinions, discuss new joint projects, and to inform the delegates of the corresponding ministries about them. And the second was to introduce our foreign colleagues to the situation in Ukrainian art and discuss international cooperation”, – says founder of Zenko Foundation and initiator of Zenko Platform Zenko Aftanaziv.
During Zenko Platform, the participants of the forum were able to get to know the state and context of contemporary Ukrainian art and culture, and also discuss the perspectives of the future cultural collaborations and possible joint projects. “The Ukrainian art is largely unknown on the international art scene. Nevertheless, it is authentic and very different from what the artists from other European countries are creating. Therefore it needs to be seen in Europe, — says Italian culturologist Franko Balloni. — To bring contemporary Ukrainian artists to big Italian museums is a dream I had for a long time”, — he added.
The guests of the forum could see the works of the key Ukrainian artists with their own eyes. The “Spirit of Time” exhibition was opened as a part of Zenko Platform.
Zenko Platform organizers promise to work hard to make the forum annual.
